New Market dispute over boundary stalls greenhouse expansion

New Market faces a boundary dispute with Howard County over Lone Cedar Farm Produce as the town plans three new greenhouses on Md 144. County planners granted the go ahead contingent on an agreement with John Schulze, who argues the line lies west of the current site. Schulze, taxed by the county for five years, says the town did not appeal the 1995 approval and fears expansion will intensify competition from Wal-Martin Mount this spring. If unresolved, the plan awaits court action or further review by the Historic District Commission and Planning and Zoning.
