City to spend 30000 on noise abatement plan

After a Wednesday workshop Frederick officials plan a three month effort to reduce aircraft noise near the airport. Browns deal eyed as Maryland lawmakers seek changes

In Annapolis Art Modell says the Browns have no funds for Baltimore stadium construction but negotiations proceed among legislative leaders and the Glendening administration. House Speaker Casper Taylor says a deal with Modell and the Maryland Stadium Authority is likely with required changes to the original agreement. Talks with Stadium Authority chairman John Moag continued Wednesday as officials seek terms to guarantee approval.

Lawmakers cited for in session campaign fund acceptances

A Maryland review finds that 36 legislators or about 19 percent accepted campaign contributions during the 1995 General Assembly session from Jan 11 to Apr 10. The findings include 15 senators and 21 delegates taking over 24 000, with some leaders and chaired members named among the violators.

Businessman Reese Warner dies at 87 in Maryland

Reese William Warner Sr. a noted Maryland businessman and owner of R W Warner Inc., a large family plumbing heating and mechanical contracting firm, died Wednesday February 14 at home after a three month illness. He was 87, lived at 11346 Green Valley Road Johnsville born July 5 1908. He first married Vera Strasburg Warner who died in 1936 and his second wife Mary Myers Warner died in 1993. He graduated Libertytown High School in 1927 and worked for Phobus Plumbing & Heating Frederick from 1928 to 1937 learning the trade.

Frederick leader to run first JCPenney in Santiago Chile

Clint Walker, longtime Frederick business and civic leader, will become the first manager of a new JCPenney in Santiago, Chile. The 260,900 square foot four floor store will debut Liz Claiborne and Nautica lines and cosmetics not sold in U S stores. Walker will oversee a larger staff and departs for Chile with his wife Friday.
