An airship piloted by Santos-Dumont crashed near Monaco after a high wind and guide rope entanglement. Robert Kilpatrick a widower aged 64 shot and killed Eliza Baymore, his housekeeper, after she refused to marry him. The American Flag House and Betsy Noss Memorial Association bought the birthplace at 239 Arch Street Philadelphia after four years of effort to prevent demolition by mercantile development.
