How Frozen Pipes May Be Safely Thawed
COLLEGE PARK Feb 10 Frozen water pipes may be thawed by pouring boiling water over a thick cloth wrap around the pipe. A. V. Krewatch of the University of Maryland warns that a blow torch method risks fire and should be used with an open end for steam escape, heating from the open end toward the frozen section. The electric resistance method should be attempted only by experienced operators with a continuous pipe run, as it does not work on plastic or rubber pipes. He notes frozen machinery is costly and recommends lubricants designed for free flow in cold weather to prevent high torque and wear. He emphasizes replacing summer lubricants with suitable cold-weather options to avoid burned wiring and higher costs.

She warns even large buys like clothing or furniture can be spur of the moment, urges budgeting and lists, and advises careful comparison shopping to avoid wasteful spending. A cedar coyote in western North Dakota weighed 61 42 pounds, an unusual find given the animal’s average 36 pounds.
