County to accept city sludge if plate test passes
Frederick County officials voted unanimously to accept Frederick city's sludge in the county landfill once it meets the states plate test standards. The sludge currently runs off a plate at 45 degrees, so steps such as mixing with soil or sand would be taken to thicken it. The county plans upgrades to the landfill including a liner and possibly a second leachate pond, with a tentative permit renewal in May.
