Cork February 11 Associated Press reports the railway strike's impact has softened with no moves to seize rolling stock or restart locomotives. The station seizure ends days of tension as authorities note reduced threat to rail service.
Baltimore reports a February 11 theft totaling 925000 in rare wines and liquor from the vault at the country home of the late Jerem Wheelwright in Haware county. The disclosure ties to a crusade to crack an organization that targets liquor stocks of wealthy Marylanders.
Washington February 1 The Senate Foreign Relations committee began consideration of the four power Pacific treaty from the Washington conference. After a lengthy discussion the panel adjourned to reconvene Tuesday. Senator Lodge signaled the panel will likely report each treaty separately rather than all seven at once.
A man believed to be a material witness in the William Desmond Taylor murder case was arrested in Los Angeles. Police refused to reveal his name or the exact location of the search warrant driven investigation. The detectives made a hurried trip with authorities declining to disclose destination.
Jacob Spiegelman, 24, died after a pistol discharged while a friend, Lewis Elfman, 32, held the weapon in an office at Ninth and Walnut streets. Spiegelman died shortly after at Jefferson Hospital. Elfman was held without bail, later posting 15000 bail. The incident prompted investigation by police and coroner. Also included is a strike report from Manchester noting wage cuts and longer hours at Amoskeag and Stark Cotton Mills starting Monday.

Indianapolis Feb 11 The first joint meeting of railroad men and United Mine Workers will be held in Chicago February 21, as announced by John L. Lewis president of the Mine Workers. The gathering will unify about two million members to resist wage cut proposals. The miners meet in Indianapolis next week to adopt policy for new wage agreements to take effect April 1.
Henry Hallock, Long Island pig bucker turned canine undertaker, claims Suffolk county’s big stick title for killing and dressing canines in nine minutes. He aims to operate an incinerator on his farm to cremate or bury dogs, after Bronk Haven warned owners to pay licenses or surrender pets.
