Frederick Man Wins Kiwanis Award After Stormy Journey
Frederick Melvin Engle of Frederick received a Kiwanis award for 28 consecutive years of perfect attendance. He arrived at a Quebec club meeting just as it adjourned after a rainstorm during a fast drive from Montreal. Engle, a tire dealer who joined Frederick Kiwanis on Nov 20, 1931, recalled attending Kiwanis meetings across the United States and Canada and noted a planned Middle East Europe trip could add two years to his attendance total. He credited good health and recalled a mumps incident that prompted a meeting at his home. The Kane Krams Club meets next week.
