Junior William A Norwood Jr of Frederick dies leaving wife Mrs Norwood two sisters and one brother in law. Survived by four grandchildren Sandra Gregory William Pamela. Albert Facey Jr. husband of Susan Facey died suddenly and services were at Robert E Dailey and Son Funeral Home with Rev W Merval Weaver officiating. Mary Hagan Price widow of Osbourne Price Sr. died at Frederick Nursing Center and services were at All Saints Episcopal Church with burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Robert E Dailey and Son were funeral directors.
Circuit Court Judge Robert E. Clapp dismissed a suit to halt the Superior Concrete Company quarrying. Defendants City of Frederick, Superior Concrete, and H. B. Mallet Estates argued lack of cause as Grove Lime Co. failed to show damage basis. Attorneys listed include Steely, Rosenstock, Offutt for Grove. Rollins for Frederick. Weinberg, Stern for Superior. Smith for Mallott.
The General Tire and Rubber Company of Akron Ohio announces dividends on issued and outstanding preferred stock. The board declares $1.25 per share on $5 cumulative preference stock and $1.1875 per share on 4.75 percent cumulative preference stock. Dividends payable March 31 to shareholders of record March 13.
In Serengeti National Park Solomon the tame hyena ran into Dr. H Kruuk's house while he bathed. The Dutch hyena expert hoped Solomon would return to the wild but the errant creature received a scrub and a meal before being shown to the door.
In Westminster two Viet Nam demonstrations occurred near East Main Street yesterday one pro administration and one anti administration. A silent vigil at the Methodist Church drew about 25 participants while a White House area counter demonstration of about 15 supporters carried phrases urging victory and questioning sacrifices. Clergymen involved disputed representation of their congregations. Rev Don Snider noted weekly Lent vigil contingent and lamented the opposing marchers.
Frederick County Volunteer Firemen s Association to host the 75th Maryland State Firemen s convention in Frederick on June 21 to 23 with about 1000 attendees. Activities include registration, business meetings at Thomas Johnson High School, a professional variety show, officer nominations, a picnic at the fairgrounds, and a parade featuring fire companies and auxiliaries from across Maryland. Convention chair is Philip H Beard of Walkersville with James Hahn and William M Moore assisting. headquarters at Independent Hose Co.
Postwar Quebec grows as an urban industrial center generating nearly half of Canada’s hydroelectric power, processing major pulpwood for a third of the world’s newsprint, and supplying over forty percent of global asbestos.
Frederick County will update its code for the first time since 1959. County commissioners will hire Michie Publishing Co. to revamp the code, aiming to keep it current and complete. The move follows repeated difficulty locating laws on tax credits and other provisions.
Donald Phillips, a Ryerson student, staged a 25 foot marriage proposal sign between broom handles near a Toronto subway exit. Leticia Sanchez accepted flowers and a ring but did not immediately commit, later telling reporters she would say yes.

James Ashton Tetlow pleaded guilty to four narcotics charges saying he needed marijuana to bake cookies. Tetlow recounted tasting marijuana cookies while a ship's cook near Acapulco and consuming five or six one morning, then sleeping through lunch before buying marijuana in Mexico to test the recipe. He faces sentencing after a probation report. The judge remarked he had never heard such a claim before.
