City police announce the arrest of Walter Green 23 colored of 19 East Sixth Street for leading a wave of thefts. Investigators report recovered a substantial amount of stolen goods and praise local residents for tip lines that aided the case.
After a year and a half investigation, Green was jailed on $500 bond for assault and battery following a warrant from Estell Fletcher. Her statements later provided enough evidence to justify a wholesale larceny charge, with Green under ongoing scrutiny for prior suspected thefts.
Police, aided by state authorities, recover more than 80 items including clothing, jewelry, food, housewares, eye wear, luggage, and tools. Green confesses to seven thefts and faces assault and conspiracy charges as he is brought from Aberdeen to Frederick for court.
