Five Emmitsburg youths get suspended terms in beating of officer
Five men from near Emmitsburg were found guilty of assault and battery in a five hour Magistrate Court trial in Brunswick. Edwin F. Nikirk said he would appeal. Ronald Messner David Messner Larry Messner Robert Sanders and Thomas Miller were given suspended sentences. Ronald Messner also drew a one year term for destruction of property. Officer Wilmer E. Law testified that the youths attacked after a traffic stop near Emmitsburg on October 31.
