Miss Outdoors crowns Hood College student at Cambridge show
Patricia Meredith, Hood College sophomore, won the Miss Outdoors title at the 12th Cambridge Outdoor Show. She is a 19 year old brunette from Cambridge studying art on a state scholarship and plans a career in commercial art after teaching in Maryland. Her sister Judy also competed, and 600 people attended the opening events. The event featured muskrat skinning preliminaries and runs through Saturday.

New Reserve Training Center Named For Flair Hero
The United States Army Reserve Training Center at Fort Deterick will be formally dedicated as the Flair Army Reserve Training Center on February 13. It honors Private First Class Raymond Randolph Flair from Frederick who died in Korea February 9, 1951. Flair served with Company C, 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division and received the Purple Heart and the Combat Infantryman Badge. The one story brick faced center houses classrooms, a indoor rifle and pistol range, a large assembly room and support offices. The 302nd and 79th Engineer Company along with the Wend Sigmal Battalion will move into the quarters, with interior work largely completed by Signal Battalion personnel.
