Ten Dollar Per Day Rent Set For County Vote Machines
Frederick County and Frederick City may rent the newly acquired voting machines for elections at ten dollars per day per machine plus transport and custodian fees. The Board of County Commissioners approved the rate at a Tuesday meeting in the Courthouse, following a recommendation from the Board of Election Supervisors chaired by Howard Ramuth. The panel also directed that all county building work go through the County Building Engineer George B. Stupp, with bills approved by his office. Copper water lines were ordered to replace galvanized iron, and Winchester Hall will be locked after hours to curb loitering, with the west wing locked on weekends and holidays. A damage claim for ducks killed by dogs was paid, and tax abatement for Rev. Frederick D. Eyster's residence was referred for action. A New Market resident's request for speech correction assistance and an admission to the Chronic Hospital were noted.
