Water plan saves Baltimore through 1955
Three Baltimore water engineers told Mayor Thomas D Alesandro that the city can cover 1955 if restrictions are used, even with rainfall at 1931 drought levels. If rain stays low, strict water limits must start by April end. They noted stream flow, storage, and demand affect supply, and urged voluntary conservation by industry and households to reduce use.

Limitations Off In 1955 For Veg, Potato Acreage
The 1955 season will not enforce previous limits on vegetables and potatoes grown on diverted allotment acres. Maryland officials say flexibility stems from the Agricultural Act of 1954 and drought effects, allowing farmers to plant more off farm for sale. Reeves notes cross compliance relaxations lessen pressure to plant on diverted land. A separate item reports Chinese forces shelling Quemoy Island from Tateng, described as a minor incident by Taiwan’s Defense Ministry.
