City votes to dissolve housing department in split plan
Frederick officials backed a proposal to dissolve the housing department and split duties between the community action agency and the housing authority. The plan would place $494,000 in CDBG funds under the community action agency and move $29 million Section 8 oversight to the housing authority, with a new CDBG coordinator to be hired within six months and questions over whether Martin French would lead CDBG efforts. Local leaders debated staff, costs, and impact on projects as Aldermen voted to keep the item on the agenda for tonight's meeting and others argued for delay.
