Frederick County commissioners approved 115000 in board of education grant funds for two speech clinicians and one occupational therapist for learning disabled children. The vote was 3 to 2 with applause from about 20 parents.
The Superintendents Advisory Committee on Restricting realigns school district lines to reflect Dr Gordon M Andersons policy A Sense of Community The panel reviewed the Feb 4 meeting material and will use Andersons guideline as the basis for proposed boundary changes to be discussed in April The policy emphasizes community identity and careful long term planning with costs and benefits weighed and the need to demonstrate a thoughtful approach.
A 50 minute closed meeting angered reporters as officials avoided discussing the water and sewer issue. Mrs. Williams claimed it was not discussed while Mayor Young dismissed topics of interest to taxpayers. A jail site bought with $400,000 in tax dollars was deemed unsuitable, with an off the record assurance that this would not recur under the new county policy.
