The Apostle Fisherman and the Paradise Fish Diet
A long prose meditation extols fish as divine food and its health and moral benefits. It ties Genesis to nutrition, cites ancient fishermen like the apostles, praises phosphorus in diet, and argues for a paradisiacal, simple menu rooted in fish. The piece mentions sea monsters, biblical echoes, and a logic linking diet to virtue and intellect.
Fishing Imagery and Night Time Evangelism in Bible Teachings
The piece blends biblical ichthyology with sermon ethos, arguing souls are harvested like fish. It emphasizes night’s primacy for evangelism, personal conversion over large-scale nets, and cites figures from Luther to Finney to illustrate one-soul impact.
Gospel Fishermen and the Day of Judgment Sermon Echoes
A sermon compares church membership to a fishing net, warning that at death the saved will be gathered and the wicked cast away. It lauds Osherman George W. Bethune for thorough work and pious life, recalling his preaching and final requests for burial and hymn.
