Woman and child escape fire in Gaithersburg tragedy
A woman and a female child escaped a two story home fire at 384 West Deer Park Drive in Brighton East Sunday evening. About 50 Montgomery County Fire Rescue firefighters arrived around 7 p.m. to find heavy fire and smoke. Officials cited a delayed call for help as the cause of greater damage. The blaze, started accidentally by a capule in the first floor family room, prompted neighbors to seek safety and firefighters to prevent spread. The incident led to displacement of the residents while investigators assess the scene.
