Catoctin Mountain Winter Festival Goes On Despite Weather
The Catoctin Mountain Park Winter Festival proceeds tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Round Meadow Camp with snowmobile, snowshoe, cross country skiing and dog sledding demonstrations. Keefer will present a five-dog sled team on a wheeled rig if no snow, with talks on Siberian Huskies and dog sledding history. Exhibits and displays include outdoor gear shops, ski areas, Maryland Magazine, and the Potomac Appalachian Trail Club, plus continuous films and slides, hot food and drinks.

Frederick County received 25495.50, Carroll County 13200.50, and Montgomery County 119820.00 as their second quarter distilled spirits tax shares for FY1972. State disbursed 0.50 per gallon on 50991, 26401, and 239640 gallons respectively, totaling 1500064. Largest shares went to Baltimore City 421299.50, Baltimore County 262356.50, Prince George s 235637.00, Anne Arundel 124828.50, and Montgomery County.

Sewer Projects Approved For Clover Hill and Jefferson
The Metropolitan Sanitary Commission approved two new sewer projects including an addition to the Jefferson sewage treatment plant and an extension of Clover Hill lines. A $99,912 contract to Fay etteville Contractors, Inc. for the Clover Hill extension and pumping station was conditionally awarded, funded by Clover Hill developer Ernest Ausherman with no county money. Expansion requires county planning approval next week before construction may begin this spring. A second contract covers design of a 75,000 gallon per day unit at the Jefferson plant, while a feasibility study for a water system near the community college was authorized. A Bal lenger Creek sewer policy change was postponed at a public meeting, pending notifications.

Ransom Rush Lewis Jr. a Fredericktonian and retired farmer died early Friday at Broward General Hospital Fort Lauderdale. He lived at 19 East Church Street with winter home at 215 North Birch Road. Born July 22 1896 in Frederick he married Hazel Willey Lewis and was son of the late R Rush Lewis Sr and Laura Yerkes Lewis. He belonged to Calvary United Methodist Church Lynch Lodge 163 AF and AM Enoch Royal Arch Chapter 23 Jacques de Molay Commandery 4 Frederick Lodge of Perfection Chesapeake Consistory 32nd Degree Ali Ghan Temple Nobles of Mystic Shrine Frederick County Fish and Game Association Camp Kanawaha and BPOE 684. A World War I veteran he flew as a Navy pilot and taught flying at MIT and served at Naval Air Stations in Miami and Pensacola. Surviving besides his wife are one sister Elizabeth Lewis Peters of Frederick. Funeral from Etchison and Son Funeral Home Monday at 2 pm with Rev Loren Gisselbeck officiating. Flowers omitted and memorials to Frederick County Heart Association urged.

A temporary court order restricting picketing of nonunion contractors in Baltimore by three labor unions was to expire today after contractors did not seek renewal. The order, signed a week ago by Judge Meyer M. Cardin, follows violence at nonunion construction sites with 35 arrests since Jan. 25. Attorneys indicated they may seek a broader injunction next week.
