Hughes pushes safety seats for young children in Maryland
Governor Harry Hughes announced proposed legislation to require child restraint seats for youngsters in cars. The bill would impose a 25 dollar fine for unrestrained children under three and for ages three to five without a seat or belt, with fines refunded if a seat is bought within 60 days. State health agencies and hospitals loan seats, which cost about 35 dollars, and similar laws have cut deaths and injuries in other states.
