New York Board Forms Immigrant Aid League

A new organization in New York, the New York Beach of the North American League For Immigrants, aims to assist aliens arriving in the state to farm lands and integrate. Chauncey Brewer of Boston founded the group two years ago. John Haye Howmams chairs the society with Frank Trumbull as vice chairman and Frances A. Keller as secretary. The body plans a militant campaign to secure immigrant protections, coordinate existing efforts, fight abuses by ticket and employment agencies, educate immigrant children, and push for wider labor-distribution and railroad immigrant agents. Offices will open soon to fundraise and launch the program, including a first agent at Ellis Island and New England docks.
