City faces ten year license tax case in Fredestak

City Attorney Levyent and special counsel for the city filed an answer to an injunction proceeding brought by Milton G Urner Jr to stop a ten dollar license tax on a practitioner of law. Urner argues the tax violates the bill of rights and state constitution. The city defense claims charter amendments allow the mayor and aldermen to regulate trades and vocations without infringing constitutional rights. Proceedings likely postponed until after the February term adjourns.
