Vigilant Hose honors Emmitsburg fire company members
The Vigilant Hose Company of Emmitsburg held its annual banquet at Mount St. Mary's College. Chris Byard was named Firefighter of the Year and Steve Hollinger received Top Responder. A life membership plaque went to Jeti Fitzgerald, with officers listed and a $5,000 auxiliary check presented by Polly Kittinger. Guest Ed Wall praised local fire services and residential sprinkling. Lloyd Fiter received a special award for 60 plus years of service.
