Housing rents rise amid tight supply in Frederick area
City officials report rents climbed 12.5 to 13.7 percent over three years while four bedroom units fell 4 to 7.3 percent since 1990 Fair market rents set at 285 for one bed 335 two bed 395 three bed and 455 four bed. Officials caution new federal calculations may lower fair market rent averages by counting long term below market rates and warn this harms subsidy recipients. They urge dual living to help low income residents cope with rising costs and limited downtown availability.
