James E. Russell, a well known local stained glass artist, closed his decade old North Market Street shop to work as a full time artist from a freelance studio in Mount Airy. He expects nine church projects next year including Tom's Creek United Methodist Church and Grace Episcopal Church. Russell repairs windows and lamps and notes stained glass is evolving toward secular use while stressing the mood and contemplation it can bring to spaces. He can be reached at 301 831 7006 for appointments.

Carteret Savings and Loan Association moved from nearly nine million dollars in losses in 1981 to a 1982 profit of 3.7 million as it expanded across New Jersey, Florida and beyond.
