Groundhog denounced as hokum by Maryland resident
A Frederick man dismisses the famous groundhog weather predictions as hokum and praises skunks and other animals for their weather hints. He cites hunting and trapping experience and claims groundhogs hide underground until ice thaws, contradicting the traditional shadow forecast. The piece references an earlier Bel Air incident and a fire at an apartment building with displaced families.
