Water Added To Packed Oysters Raises Alarm In Baltimore
Federal official says about a quarter of area oyster packers water in oysters. Estimated cost to consumers about 2 million dollars this season. Richard Williams of the Baltimore FDA calls watering a major concern after a peak-season survey found 300,000 gallons of tap water added to cans. Three Frederick men were jailed on robbery by force charges after attacking Edward Morningstar in Kinnehart's Alley January 13. They are James Jefferson, Herbert Thompson, and Charles Davis, held for grand jury action with bonds set at 5,000 each. Davis had prior imprisonment for robbery and related offenses. Morningstar’s watch and lighter were recovered. Morningstar was beaten but not hospitalized.

Jury Convicts Volunteer Fireman in Two Glen Echo Fires
Floyd W. Spong, 22, a Cabin John Volunteer Fire Department member and World War II veteran, is found guilty by a Montgomery County Circuit Court jury of arson for setting fires to an unused filling station on MacArthur Boulevard and a vacant house near Glen Echo on the night of September 13 14.
