Two Knockouts Open Frederick Boxing Night Show
Frederick County boxing fans witnessed two technical knockouts and a drawn main event at the new Hollywood Garden sports arena. Carey Wright 23 from Doubs defeated Roms LaBona in the fourth round, while Henry Irving and Walter Kirkwood fought to a draw in six rounds. Mike Groves stopped Young Shoemaker in 41 seconds of the opening bout, with Bonavari beating Wid Bill Howell in a close four round decision. Arena promoter Robert Nix Grove reported heat kept attendance modest but the venue offered good views and car space.
