Changes in Maryland income tax outlined by comptroller
The Maryland Comptroller J Millard Tawes office announced changes to state income tax rules for 1957 including broader exemptions for dependent children college students and working teens with more than half support. Non residents who work in Maryland face new rules on withholding refunds and annual returns while military personnel lose the first 1500 exemption unless in wartime or a combat zone. Residents moving into Maryland pay tax only for the period lived there.
