Gas industry to expand further into 1952
The American Gas Association reports nearly 1.5 billion dollars spent by gas utilities in 1951 on plants and equipment with 4.6 billion expected 1951–1955 for growth. Emphasis is on natural gas with about a billion dollars for transmission systems and pipelines. Separately, Frederick YMCA Juniors defeated Liberty 55 15 in a basketball game as part of local sports coverage. Tuskegee Institute notes a drop in mob violence in 1951 from 1950 in its annual report and a historical note on street newspaper sales dating to before the 1830s.
