Lovers Quarrel Ends in Fatal Shooting and Suicide
A Maryland couple’s quarrel in a Brunswick area home led to a shotgun murder suicide. Alma Bernice Comer 34 killed Joseph Richard Wood 42 then shot herself, according to State Police and the county medical examiner. Worsening jealousy and drinking preceded the tragedy during a night of tavern visits and an argument at a friend’s residence along Howard Huffer road near Burkittsville. Wood fired over guests before forcing a woman to shoot and then killed himself by placing the barrel in his mouth. Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
