More than 250 guests were displaced after a liquid natural gas leak caused a blast at the Riessersee Hotel in Garmisch Partenkirchen. Seven West Germans died, 12 were hospitalized, and over 20 guests were relocated to nearby inns as investigators probe a pipe in the hotel's heating system. The alpine town, famed for skiing and the 1936 Winter Olympics, mobilized emergency services and recalled guests.
