Paris garage owners seek indemnity over rationing losses
In Paris on December 28, gasoline rationing leaves French garage owners as underpaid clerks while asking the government for indemnities for the rationing period. The rationing system sharply cut sales and requires both the attendant and customer to navigate extensive paperwork with each sale. An earlier era note recalls the Western kingdom of Nopal allowing only 230 westerners before World War II, now welcoming tourists.
