Freezing Rain Slows Travelers Across Maryland Roads

Freezing rain and sleet slowed area motorists Monday as roads iced over from midnight. National Weather Service forecaster Amet Figueroa reported widespread ice except on the Eastern Shore and warned surfaces may stay glazed into the afternoon as precipitation shifts to rain. Maryland State Police noted numerous fender-bender accidents and sheriffs described particularly slick side roads in Frederick County. Temperatures at BWI rose above freezing, with west and north areas still at or below freezing, then drizzle and fog expected Monday night and partial clearing with mid to upper 30s Tuesday.
