Horticulture Class Cultivates Poinsettias At Frederick High
Frederick High School students in Mr. Dale White’s horticulture course raised poinsettias from cuttings provided by Zimmermann’s florists starting in September. Three months later the plants matured, yielding about 3150 in sales to fund a new greenhouse watering system and improvements to the school greenhouse. The course, offered this season for the first time, covers landscape work, house plant care, propagation, greenhouse management, soil chemistry, and floral design.
