War Food Admin mulls freezing stored chickens for army

The War Food Administration is considering freezing all stored chickens until armed services meet their needs by buying from storage at ceiling price. After requirements are filled, remaining stock would revert to owners. The plan covers only chickens already in storage when signed and won’t impact other poultry marketing or storage. A WFA spokesman noted a recent Office of Price Administration order raising pay for dressed birds failed to secure supplies, suggesting hoarding by large users hindered normal marketing. The Knoxville Christmas program followed, with student performances and community support. Baltimore reports 2000 Maryland farm buildings wired for electricity since October, with 14,000 pounds of copper allocated for farm use in the past quarter.
