Big Mall Theft in Wilmington Shocks City
A mail pouch containing war bonds and securities valued at 750000 was stolen while being delivered from Wilmington post office to the railroad. About 350000 recovered. Albert and Earl Johnson, both of 214 Orange street, held on 3000 bail each. Pouch contained Dupont and Hercules Powder stock, Atlas Powder stock, General Motors, railroad bonds, and checks. Authorities say crooks planned the theft, possibly as agents of others. Rabid emphasis on Wilmington as a "rich powder city."
