American divorcee seeks asylum in Denmark over Britain deportation
A 32 year old American woman, Mrs Jean Butler, arrived with her British fiancé Clive Jenkins in Copenhagen seeking temporary haven after the British Home Office ordered her to leave the UK by December 28 or face deportation. She was divorced recently from J Jordan Butler and plans to marry Jenkins in Denmark and return to Britain as a British citizen. Butler said there is no security issue, and she had been an organizer with the CIO in the South years ago. The Home Office would not discuss the case.
