Middletown Christmas 1896 Echoes and City Notes
The issue reflects a festive Middletown season with weather luxury contrasts, local dreams of a railroad expansion, and a report on the state military encampment fund balance. It highlights charitable plans for the German Baptist conference, a strong local civic spirit, and a full eight page Holiday section with poems, illustrations, and stories including Frank Winscombe's Heroism and General Burnside notes. The paper promotes calendars for 1897 and emphasizes community life across city, county, and state.
