Frederick City Officers Patrolling Alone Christmas Eve
Staff Reports note Beth Shalom volunteers will patrol starting at 8 tonight with four per shift from 8 pm to 8 pm Wednesday. Cant Tanner mentions dispatchers will be assisted by volunteers to handle the steady stream of requests. Capt Harold Domer says the effort gives volunteers a taste of police work and brings some company to officers.

Buggy Mishap Injures Two in East Street Incident
Two horse drawn carriages were damaged on East Street Monday night. Operators Matthew J. Wilms and Tiffany Wilms were treated at Frederick Memorial Hospital and released. A passing truck spooked the horses causing one carriage to strike a parked pickup and flip. The other horse ran away and the carriage became wedged between a wall and a utility pole on East Fourth Street before being caught near North Market Street. No passengers were aboard.

Suspect Robber Identified In Carroll County Bank Heists
FBI and Maryland State Police say a single man robbed two Carroll County banks, including the December 21 New Windsor State Bank heist. The suspect, about six feet tall, passed notes without displaying a weapon. Police urge anyone with information to call the state tip line.

Two Die In Three Vehicle Crash On Md 26 Eldersburg
A three vehicle collision on Md 26 near Eldersburg left Zelia A Eckhart 68 and Earl J Landry 67 of Reisterstown dead. Ronald J Fajkowski 37 of Upperco drove a Ford truck that struck Eckhart’s Toyota head on then hit a Ford Fiesta driven by David Fitzwater of Owings Mills. Fajkowski was hospitalized in good condition. Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor.

Teen hurt in two vehicle crash on Md 80
A Frederick teen, Sara Stup aged 16, was seriously injured in a two vehicle crash on Md 80 at Tamsville Road. She was treated at R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore and later discharged. The other driver, Joseph Buffano, 36, of Frederick, was not injured. State Police say the driver of the eastbound Mercury Sable tried to left turn in front of a westbound car. the investigation continues.
