Verdict in Baltimore and Ohio right of way case
The sheriff's jury in the condemnat ion proceedings of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company against the Washington Junction Stans Company for right of way to enable improvements at that place Saturday completed its work. The jury after two hours' deliberation awarded the stone company $2,965.63 for the right of way through the quarry. It is said the company will appeal from this verdict as the amount is not sufficient to pay for removal of the machinery. From the statements of the five national banks of this city, the Citizens' has $1,672,460, the Farmers and Mechanics' $529,382.04, the Central $152,545.63, the Frederick County $175,245. - and the First $219,495.35, individual deposits subject to check, making a total of $2,779,429. This is an excellent showing for these institutions and speaks well for the confidence reposed in the managers by the public.
