In 1836 Methodists in Kemptown bought land from Solomon and Barberry Kemp within Snakerot Thicket. A church named Providence Methodist Church formed, joining the Frederick Circuit of eight churches until 1893. The present church building dates to 1872 and Rev. Charles Frum serves as pastor here and at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church in Ijamsville.

Grace Church completes new Brunswick chapel in 1928
Grace Church in Brunswick Maryland completed its new Gothic stone chapel on Second Avenue and A Street by 1928 after raising 1250 dollars to clear earlier debt. The building, designed by Frank Watson of Philadelphia, features a bell from the old chapel, a cross atop the bell-cote, and was consecrated May 21 1928 with Bishop Helfenstein officiating.
