Spook Hill Legend Links Mystery to Mountaintop Local Lore
Fredericktown reader John Mills recalls Spook Hill on Cherry Lane between Braddock Heights and Jefferson where a neutral car reportedly rolls uphill. He and I tested the slope with a level and rough eye estimate suggesting a three to four foot drop over 100 feet. Mills suspects a subterranean meteor induced field. locals say Union troops haunt the slope. The column also notes the Faceless Nun of Mount Saint Mary’s College and a Union Bridge centennial planning call for historic materials. We also mention Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church living creche in Myersville and a Foster Parent drive by Frederick County Social Services.
