Thomas Hutchinson 41 of Clinton Utah stopped to aid a stranded motorist on the shoulder of westbound I-70 at 4:30 am. He was struck by a pickup rear impact then veered into a tractor trailer. Hutchinson was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore in serious but stable condition. The pickup driver Russell Matthew Bb II 52 of Mount Airy and the tractor trailer driver Frederick Crocker 37 of Martinsburg, Pa were not injured.
A 17 year old was stopped for speeding in Walkersville Maryland. Police detected alcohol and, after a sheriff's office dog scan, found seven plastic bags totaling 23.3 grams of marijuana. The youth, not named, was charged with possession and possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance and possession of alcohol by a minor. He was released to his parents.
