Knoxville man dies in Sunday house fire

A Washington County man, Benjamin Franklin Campbell, 65, of Knoxville, died in a Kaetzel Road house fire near Yarrowsburg. Firefighters found him in the living room as flames poured from the front window. An extension cord short circuit started the blaze. An autopsy will determine the death cause. The couple had moved in about two weeks earlier and were not home together.

Shanghai students stage protest as fourth day unfolds

Swedish missionary to be deported from South Africa

A Swedish missionary active in anti apartheid protests is ordered to leave South Africa within a month and will appeal. Desmond Tutu urged minimal prerequisites for a peaceful solution to racial conflict. A Frederick farmer died when run over by his own pickup on his farm off Mount Phillip Road, the GMC truck found beyond him in a field. Police say it is unclear how Poole exited the truck. evidence shows it backed from the driveway through a fence into the field. P.S. Terblanche confirmed the Rev Per Svensson and family to be deported in January but gave no reason and said no appeal received.
