Desert fibers power new paper and broom innovations
A paper company in the eastern United States has produced Navy grade paper from glaucaea yuccea. In Kingman Arizona a plant using novel desert fiber methods is being built. Separately a firm uses beargrass for long stiff street cleaning brushes and desert plants yield stiff brushes. Desert plants are ready for harvest, do not reduce arable land, and may boost livestock forage as fiber demand grows.
