Frederick officials say the Park memorial for graves covered by a playground will feature a central monument reached by four winding paths and a large lawn with benches and flowers. The committee has not fixed the monument design. a local designer will consult. About 1,500 burials were recorded when the cemetery opened in 1851. The Board of Aldermen will decide final plans as city funds transform the park, with some equipment reusable and other parts discarded for safety.

Sewage Spill Diluted Into Creek Near Frederick
Heavy rains overflowed a treatment station near Quail Knob and Woodchuck lanes, releasing about 25 inches of rainfall across a storm that sent raw sewage into Muddy Run and the Monocacy River. Officials reported 16000 upstream, 90000 downstream, and 30000 in the effluent bacteria counts, with beaches to reopen only after levels drop. Public notice follows a Maryland DEP letter urging disclosure after spills and a separate Brunswick Potomac discharge.
