Leukotriene blockers offer new help for asthma hay fever
Boston researchers report experimental drugs that inhibit leukotrienes may prevent asthma and hay fever symptoms with fewer side effects. Three studies show reduced congestion and wheezing, including 70 percent asthma reduction during exercise and 47 percent tolerance to cold triggers. The work, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, suggests a potential shift from fire suppression to prevention in allergic disease treatment.
