Sister Sebastian Brown 100 Dies at St Frances Convent
Sister Sebastian Brown of the Colored Oblate Sisters of Providence died Monday at 2:30 PM at St Frances Convent in Baltimore. Born Justin Brown near Frederick, Md, she lived on the Vincendale estate and devoted her life to education and care for the sick. She entered the order in 1867 and had been bedbound and blind for eight years following a stroke. Funeral was held at St Monica's with the order’s pallbearers.
