Hager House opens window to town's founding era
The Hager House near City Park recalls early Western Maryland life. German immigrant Jonathan Hager settled in 1739, built a 2 hundred acre homestead, and founded Hagerstown. The structure with thick 22 inch walls stood as a fort and trading post as settlers faced harsh winters and Indian threats.
