Eye of duck the key to Calder toys
In Pittsfield Massachusetts a wooden duck stored for 40 years revealed Calder toys behind the eye catching the museum’s basement discovery. Nine small bright figures likely made in the late 1920s show Calder’s humor and motion ideas that predated his famous mobiles. The Berkshire Museum notes authenticate the toys as Sammy Calder’s, once in Stirling Calder’s family home, forgotten until now.
